Shelley Sylvie Wexner

Cambridge, NY-Shelley Wexner, 73, of Cambridge, departed this world, heading directly to the nearest celestial dog park. She was surrounded by her friends and died peacefully and in no pain. Having spent her youth in New York City, her wild years in Haight-Asbury, California, and then returning to NYC, she moved to Cambridge over 20 years ago. She served her chosen community well, volunteering at Mary McClellan Hospital, the Village Store and the Cambridge Historical Society. She was the instigator of the Pet Parade portion of the annual Cambridge Christmas parade for several years. She was a welcomed addition to the staff at Santere's Liquor Store and Black Dog Wines and Spirits where her extensive knowledge of wines and liquors helped to educate the willing clientele, as well as the proprietors. Shelley's deep love of canines made her the most sought-after dog sitter in the community. She even tolerated cats, as long as there was a dog attached.

Shelley is preceded in death by her only sibling, V. I. Wexner, and survived by her nephew Sage Wexner of Sacramento, California; her niece, Reo Wexner, of Omaha, Nebraska; and niece’s children, Darragh and twins, Kia and Sullivan, and cousin Sue Lombardo and family, of Brooklyn, NY. Her wit, insight, devilish sense of humor and generosity will be greatly missed by her close friends and the many people she touched in the community.

A celebration of Shelley's Life is planned for Sunday, November 12th (delayed to allow travel for her family traveling from afar) with a calling hour beginning at 9 AM and a time of sharing Shelley stories starting at 10 am at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.
