Wayne C. Johanson, Sr.

Hebron, NY - Wayne C. Johanson, Sr., 77, of Hebron, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, December 2, 2025, at the Washington Center in Argyle, NY. Born on June 1, 1948, in Newport, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Otto and Florence (Watkins) Johanson.

Wayne was a graduate of Rogers High School in Newport, RI. He went on to earn an Associate Degree from the Plus School of Business in Westchester, NY.   From 1980 to 2004, he owned and operated Wayne & Son Appliance Repair, a business known for its reliability and personal touch. In addition to his professional work, Wayne devoted his time to spiritual leadership, serving as a Pastor at the United Church of West Pawlet in the 1980’s.  He was currently a member of the Salem Community Fellowship Church in Salem.

Beyond his career and ministry, Wayne had a deep appreciation for nature and found joy in beekeeping, a hobby he pursued with care and enthusiasm. He was former member of the West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane Haun Johanson, whom he married on June 20, 1970. He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne C. Johanson, Jr. and his wife Eva of Germany; and his son-in-law, Alan Nix of Granville, NY. He was a proud grandfather to two granddaughters and a cherished great-grandfather to one great-grandson.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his daughter, Svea Johanson Nix, in 2022.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.
