Cambridge - Veronica B. Piekarz of Cambridge, New York passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025. She was born on December 3, 1934 in Yonkers, New York to George and Anna (Timko) Yurcho.
After completing her secretarial training and graduating from Commerce High School, Veronica proudly commuted by train to her secretarial job in Manhattan.
Veronica was predeceased by her husband Walter who she met and married in Yonkers. In the 1970’s Veronica, Walter and their five children moved from Westchester County to Cambridge, NY. There they opened Bakers Country Campground that operated for forty years.
She is survived by her living children, Jefim, Gregory, Suzanne and predeceased by two sons, Christopher and Jonathan. Cherished grandmother of Walter, Nicole, Jefim, Matthew, Alex, Sonia, Sacha, Colleen and Shawn. Beloved great grandmother of Zachary, John Gregory, Mattis, Nora, Audrey, Silas, Noah and Ada. Veronica was known for filling her home with family and friends. She was a gifted cook and baker as well as being a member of her Catholic community and church for her entire life.
A graveside service will take place at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Cambridge at 3 pm on Friday June 13, 2025.
