Stewart G. "Stu" Robertson, III

Salem, NY-Stewart G. “Stu” Robertson, III, 73, of Salem, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at his residence.

He was born September 24, 1949 in Manhattan, NY the son of the late Stewart G. Robertson, Jr. and Susan B. Horwath Robertson.

Stu graduated from Middletown High School in 1968 and attended Orange County Community College until being drafted in the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era.

Stu worked for the Middletown Psychiatric Center in Middletown, NY for 16 years and then at the Wilton Developmental Center in Wilton, NY for 22 years retiring in 2007. 

He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Salem and also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.  Stu loved the New York Jets, listening to music and fishing the Battenkill.  While living in Middletown, NY, he coached Pee wee football and baseball and also coached the same sports in Salem where he was the announcer for Salem High School football for several years.

In addition to his parents, Stu was predeceased by a brother, John Robertson.

Stu is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cathy Jilek Robertson who he married August 19, 1989; his children, Matthew Robertson and Molly Robertson of Salem, NY, Marisa Robertson, Danielle Robertson and Craig Robertson, all of Middletown, NY; a sister, Patricia Smith of Asheboro, NC; a sister-in-law, Patricia Robertson of Middletown, NY.  He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Friday, August 11, 2023 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem, NY.  Interment with military honors will be at 12:30 pm Friday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY.
