Hoosick Falls-Steven J. Church, 75, of Hoosick Falls, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.
Born in Cambridge January 10, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert and Belle (Woodard) Church. Steve served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and worked at Hale Furniture Co. in Arlington, VT.
Steve was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church and the Captain Maxson Post 634 American Legion in Cambridge. He enjoyed the outdoors where he would hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents, Steve was predeceased by his siblings, Jerry Church, Robert Church, Loretta Casano and Carol Bodine.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sharon Wideawake Church; step-children, Harry (Cassandra) Porter of Bennington, Louise (Kenny) Perry and Tom Porter, of Pownal; sisters, Barbara Shepherd of Averill Park and Linda Rock of Florida. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be from 10-11 am Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem. A service will begin at 11 am following the calling hour with Rev. Hannah Midge officiating. Interment with military honors will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
