Malta, NY – Selda Cody, 79, of Malta, previously of Cambridge, NY, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Born on December 20, 1945, in Maui, Hawaii, Selda was the daughter of the late Joe and Lynn (Farrell) Maples. She spent much of her early life in New York, graduating from Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls. She went on to earn her associate degree from Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie.
Selda was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life. She loved tending to her garden, watching a movie, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Her warmth, quiet strength, and thoughtful presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Maureen O’Neil of Clifton Park, NY; Edward (Nancy) Cody of Cambridge, NY; and Michael (Joan) Cody of East Greenbush, NY. Selda was a proud grandmother to Michael (Rebekah), Sean, Stephanie (Bryan), Lauren (Chris), Samantha, and Jordan (Jeremy), and a loving great-grandmother to Michael, Abigail, and Cillian. She is also survived by her half-brother, Michael Maples of Thailand.
In addition to her parents, Selda was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Edward Cody, and son-in-law Michael O’Neil.
A service will be held privately for the family at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.
