Sarah Miller Obituary

Shushan, NY - Sarah Louise Miller passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026 in Manchester, VT after a long illness.  Sarah was born in Randolph, VT on January 17, 1964 to Rev. Charles M. Miller III and Barbara L. Miller.

Sarah was a graduate of Northwestern Connecticut Regional High School in Winsted, CT and the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio where she majored in History.

While Sarah’s life culminated in a Vermont “round trip”, her adult professional life was largely spent in upstate New York.  Most recently she had been employed as Manager of FERC Compliance for Avangrid, based out of Rochester, NY.  Prior to moving to Rochester in 2013, Sarah was a founding partner of Regulatory Watch, Inc. in Albany, NY.

Outside her abiding (if inexplicable) interest in the regulatory framework governing electric utilities, Sarah was an ardent sports fan, a voracious reader and a caring parent to a long line of cats. Sarah enjoyed all manner of sports, but was particularly devoted to the Boston Red Sox, as well as being a loyal fan of the Boston Bruins. Notwithstanding her New England roots, and for reasons which escaped her family and which will remain a mystery, she was also a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills.

Sarah inherited an adventurous spirit from her parents and travelled extensively from her infant days in South West Africa (now Namibia) to such far flung places as Alaska, Aberdeen, Scotland and Australia - (and that just covers the first letter of the alphabet).

Sarah was predeceased by her father, Charlie Miller, her mother Barbara Miller and her brother Bartlett F. Miller.  She is survived by her sister Becky Miller, her nephews Forrest Miller (and his wife Hadley Stein) and Graham Miller, her stepmother Cheryl Miller and Cheryl’s children Michael Hall and Christina Fazzino.  She also leaves several beloved aunts and numerous cousins.

McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home in Salem, NY is coordinating final arrangements.  At the convenience of her family, there will be a service to honor Sarah’s memory at some point in the future.  In lieu of flowers, please consider rooting for the Buffalo Bills during this playoff run or making a donation to either your local animal shelter or the Vermont VNA Hospice organization.
