Cambridge-Saffron Kohler, a transplant to the Cambridge/Salem area after decades of some whirlwind moves all around the country, was pronounced dead from a heart attack on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023.
Born and raised in New Jersey, she spent her early years quite devoted to music, both in playing the piano and singing. While studying at Rutgers University, she honed interests in photography, drawing, and painting. This accompanied her interest in psychology, which, like her artistic pursuits, remained a life-long interest.
At some points a freelance painter and sign designer, she worked in many other fields, including printing, at restaurants, for Pella window, for art stores, and at Glens Falls National Bank. From working on a horse ranch to managing house repairs and exterior painting on her own, there was little that she could not sleuth and accomplish.
A beloved sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother, she leaves behind two sisters, Hollis and Lisa, two children, Leila and Kirk, son-in-law Dominique, and grandchildren Max and Arlo as well as her nephew Ethan and his family, and nephews Robin and Schuyler. Of her friends, some spanned for decades, and they will miss her as well.
In more recent years, she had taken to jewelry making and a new form of painting style, and leaves behind some of these vivid creations as a bright reminder of her unique perspective and love for beauty in the world. Her life was one marked with deep curiosity and a willingness to learn for the sake of learning.
A memorial will be planned for a date in the future.
