Salem-Paul J. Gulino, 97, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Moreau.
He was born October 8, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Louis and Vincenza (Dileo) Gulino. Paul was educated in Brooklyn and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He had a long career with the U.S. Postal Service in Brooklyn as a mail handler. Paul also worked various jobs when he was not working at the post office to support his family. He retired after many years of service.
Paul was a member of Holy Cross Church in Salem and spent countless hours working in his flower garden. He enjoyed reading and loved nature and all of its beauty. Anyone who knew Paul found out quickly that he had a sympathetic heart and was there to help. Paul will be deeply missed by many people, especially his family who meant so much to him.
In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years, Fannie Perricone Gulino who passed away July 26, 2023; two siblings, Frank Gulino and Julia Stichler.
Paul is survived by his two loving daughters, Donna Gulino, Lori Murchison and her husband John, all of Salem. He also leaves behind his three grandchildren which he was very proud of, John Paul Murchison, Sarah Murchison and her partner, Evan Anastasio and Amanda Mignone and her husband Vincent; great grandchildren, John Paul Murchison, Jr. and Easton Anastasio, his most precious possessions.
Calling hours are Monday, January 15, 2024 from 2-5 pm at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Holy Cross Church, 249 North Main St., Salem with Rev. Peter Tkocz officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
