Nicholas D. Messina

Cambridge-Nicholas D. Messina, 53, of Cambridge, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at his residence.

Born November 3, 1967 in Cambridge, he is the son of Albert Messina of Cambridge and the late Sharron Woodcock Messina who passed away in 2018.

Nick attended Cambridge Central School and received his ASE certification from BOCES.  He worked with his father at Messina’s Mobil in Cambridge and eventually owned the business.  He then relocated the business to Eagle Bridge and renamed it Messina & Son.  Nick then went to worked for the New York State Department of Transportation maintaining the roads throughout the year.  Previously in the past, he would assist his father with snowplowing, which he always loved to do during the winter months.

Nick had many interests such as hunting.  He loved hiking and all kinds of animals.  He was a die-hard John Wayne fan and a car buff who loved to drive his Jeep on trails.  Nick just loved the outdoors!  He was an awesome cook, especially with the grill.  Family was a big part of his life.

In addition to his mother Sharron, he was predeceased by his son in 2014, Albert “Albie” Messina.

Nick is survived by his wife, Sarah Morris Messina; his children, Vincent Messina and his wife Meaghan of Odenton, MD, Maria Messina and her fiancé, Mason Niles of Cambridge and Necola Messina and her boyfriend, Samuel Crowder of Hudson Falls.  He is also survived by his faithful canine companion, Duke; his siblings, Chad Messina and his wife Joan of Colorado Springs, CO, Anthony Messina of Cambridge, Rachel Messina Saunders of Creedmoor, NC and many nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private gathering at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home in Cambridge.
