Michael Eugene Beddows

Cambridge - Michael Eugene Beddows, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024 in Saratoga Springs, NY.  He was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on February 14, 1945.  He spent his youth in Yonkers, NY until he eventually married Maureen Smith and moved to Mahopac, NY where he raised his family.  Michael always wanted to live in the country and ultimately settled at a farm in Cambridge, NY until his recent passing.

Michael graduated from Lincoln High School and entered the Army where he served in the Vietnam War.  He was a Yonkers police officer for twenty years where he received many honors and awards.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen Beddows and his three children:  Michael Beddows, Kathy Thompson and Christine Locke. He had five cherished grandchildren: Madison Beddows, Walter, Bruce, Jack and Maclean Thompson.  He also had three loving brothers: Peter, Gary and Richard. 

Michael loved going to Lake George sitting under the big shade tree while reading a book as the boats passed by.  One of his favorite pastimes was listening to oldies while tinkering in his workshop.

Michael is predeceased by his parents, John and Shirley Beddows and his younger brother Robert.

Calling hours will be held at Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home at 73 West Main St., Cambridge, NY on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 1-4 pm.  There will be a mass at 10 am on Friday, March 1, 2024 at St Patrick’s Church, 17 South Park St., Cambridge.
