Hebron - Michael A. Bassett, 70, of Hebron, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at his residence.
Born on July 20, 1955, in Cambridge, NY, he was the son of Floyd Bassett and Elizabeth Peters. Mike graduated from Salem Washington Academy and began his career as a self-employed contractor in the local area. Known for his skill and reliability, he also performed auto repairs from his home garage, where he spent many hours working on projects.
Mike was a former member of the Battenkill Snowdrifters and enjoyed the camaraderie and outdoor adventures that came with it. He loved hunting and spending time in the woods, finding peace and purpose in nature. He also had a interest in old cars—especially Jeeps—and took great pleasure in restoring and working on them.
He is survived by his children, Adam M. Bassett and his wife Patricia of Sunderland, VT, and Kylee Macy of Ruskin, FL. Mike also leaves behind his brothers, Steven Bassett and his wife Kathrynn of Greenwich, and William Bassett and his wife Jennifer of Salem. He also leaves behind his grandchildren—Daisy and Jade Bassett of Sunderland, and Harper and Charlotte Macy of Ruskin, FL as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private.
The McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, Inc. in Salem has been entrusted with arrangements.
