Cambridge - Mary Anne McAvoy (Muraski), 84, of Cambridge, NY left this World to rest peacefully in heaven on Sunday, March 3, 2024. She spent her free time with her loving family, watching her favorite shows on TV Land, and going through family history to ensure that it lived on.
She was born in Troy, NY on July 3rd, 1939. Mary Anne was a faithful part of the community for her whole life. Mary Anne graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Maria College. She spent much of her later life as Village Historian for Cambridge, NY and volunteering at the Cambridge Historical Society. She loved being at Stewart’s with her coffee and was an avid gardener, she always had beautiful flowers and trees strategically placed throughout her property and plants in her home. Mary Anne will be missed by all. Malala Yousafzai once said “There are two powers in the world, one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a third power stronger than both, that of women.” Mary Anne was a force of nature, she taught everyone to be strong and steadfast. Everything she did, she did with her whole heart.
A lifetime of memories and many lives touched all by this remarkable woman. Thank you for being in our lives. We’ll see you again.
Donations can be made in her honor to Cambridge/Salem Youth Cheerleaders, Cambridge/Salem Youth Football League, and/or Salem Little League. She loved supporting her grandchildren and seeing them play.
