Mary Alice (Lewis) Bodnar

Cambridge - Mary Alice Bodnar (Lewis) passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the age of 90 years.  Born in Wilkes-Barre PA on July 28, 1933, Mary was predeceased by Michael Bodnar, her loving husband of 33 years, her parents Joseph J. and Mary (Warmouth) Lewis, and her brother Joseph Lewis.

Mary is lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law Michael J. and Diane Bodnar, her grandson Armand M. Bodnar and his partner Miranda von Linden, and granddaughter Elianna M. Bodnar.

Mary also leaves behind a stepfamily in Florida, daughters Michele Jachim and Virginia (William) Bayer, and family.   

Mary will also be truly missed by her in-laws, Kenneth and Diane Morris, and their children.

Additionally, she leaves behind many loving and dear friends and neighbors who filled her life with joy and happiness.

Mary was a woman of great faith who, with an invincible positive attitude, dedicated her life to serving others.  She filled many roles in her service to the Cambridge community, most notably to the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church where she served in many positions, including Elder, Deacon, and Treasurer.

An active volunteer in her community, Mary dedicated her time to many organizations including the Loaves and Fishes food pantry, the Cambridge Valley Senior Center, and The Washington County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.

Previously, she also served in various roles through the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel, NJ, and Saint Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Carteret, NJ. 

Her humor, love and welcoming spirit will be deeply missed. 

A visiting hour will be from 10-11 AM on Monday, October 23, 2023 at the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, 81 East Main St., Cambridge, NY. A memorial service will begin at 11 AM following the visiting hour.
