Margaret Eddy Obituary

Cambridge-Margaret A. Eddy, age 95, was called home on October 17, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

On April 22, 1928, Francis J. and Anna M. Zeto Arcuri of Fort Edward, NY, welcomed their daughter to their large Italian family and named her Marguerite Ann. In 1945, she graduated from Fort Edward High School and for several years thereafter worked as a secretary at Imperial Wallpaper in Glens Falls. On December 11, 1949, she married Walton J. Eddy at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward, moving to Cambridge and later to Eagle Bridge. For thirty-one years, she was an employee of Albany Felt Company on Danforth Street in Hoosick Falls, subsequently traveling to Albany International in Menands until her retirement in 1990.

First and foremost, Margaret loved her family and enjoyed being with them. A recent summer gathering of those closest to her afforded a final opportunity for time together, including lunch at her favorite Italian restaurant. Among her activities and interests over the years were bowling in the Tuesday night women’s league at the Bar-B-Que, going to tag sales with her friend and co-worker Peg Yavaniski, playing cards, golfing, visiting various places on senior trips, watching old movies and game shows, playing her favorite (or any other) slot machine at Saratoga or Rivers Casinos.

Margaret leaves behind close family members and dear friends who lovingly cared for and about her, especially during the waning years and months of her life. Those she wished to herein remember are her daughter and long-term care giver Linda (Jerry) Hutchins; grandchildren Eric (Olivia) Hutchins, Kristin (Mark) Hutchins, Traci (Jorge) Carelli; great-grandchildren Katalina Isabel Droz, Lucia Alejandra Droz, Charles Walton Hutchins. Additionally, she held a deep appreciation for the many kindnesses, thoughts and prayers of all her supportive friends, especially Gloria Dawley, Luanne Fitzpatrick, Joanie James, and Robert Shay, each of whom brightened many a day.

Other survivors include Jayne Ortiz, Kari Higley, Branyn Bollman, Alyssa Rosa, along with twenty nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband Walton, devoted daughter Sandra Carelli, aforementioned parents, nine brothers, and three sisters.

The family deeply thanks Dr. Jama Peacock-Birsett, Dr. Alan Hutcheson, and the Hospice team, especially Tracy Demianenko, Karen Buczkowski, and Chaplain Michael Crandall for their many months of kind, compassionate care and support. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Father Peter Tkocz for his visits, the congenial and spiritual nature of which she both enjoyed and appreciated.

Margaret was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls where a funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 17, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at White Creek Cemetery. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church Renovation Fund, 67 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090 or the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, 37 Gilbert Street, Cambridge, NY  12816.
