Marcia Jean (Tourge) Johnson

Fort Edward - Marcia Jean Johnson, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at her home.

Born February 28, 1951, in Salem, she was the daughter of Norma Montgomery Tourge and the late Richard Tourge.

She graduated from Salem Central School. Marcia graduated from the State University at Cobleskill in 1971. Right after graduation, she worked in the Operations Dept. at Evergreen Bank for several years working her way up to become an officer. She retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for a few years.

On June 7, 2017, she married Andrew Johnson in Vermont.

She enjoyed gambling, taking cruises, holidays, and spending time with her family.

Marcia was a member of the American Legion Post 574 in Hudson Falls.

In addition to her father, Marcia was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Simmons.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Andrew Johnson; mother, Norma Tourge; sister, Karen Tourge. She also left behind three stepchildren, Natalie Hays, Brian Simmons and Debbie Simmons; one special uncle, Donald Ketchum and one special aunt, Mary Jo Ketchum, and several cousins and good friends.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem.  A gathering will follow at the Salem Community Fellowship Church, 204 Main St., Salem, NY.
A graveside service will be conducted in the spring at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.
