Cambridge, NY - Mamie (LoPresti) Dearstyne, born June 23, 1935, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, May 24, 2026 at her residence.
Mamie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose faith and love for family guided her throughout her life. She graduated from Troy High School and dedicated much of her life to caring for others, both personally and professionally.
For 31 years, Mamie worked as a nurse’s aide at Crescent Manor in Bennington, VT where she compassionately cared for countless residents and formed lasting friendships with coworkers and families alike.
A faithful member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mamie was deeply active in her parish community. She served as a church lector and Eucharistic minister and was also an active member of the Mother of Good Counsel Presidium. Her strong faith was evident in the kindness, generosity, and compassion she showed to everyone she met.
Mamie is survived by her children, David and Carla Dearstyne of Fort Worth, Texas; Michael and Karla Dearstyne of Chapin, South Carolina; and Andrew and Cara Dearstyne of Argyle, New York; her sister, Virginia and Joseph Ricatta; eight grandchildren, Steven, Daniel, Derek, Adam, Michael, Toni, Samuel & Hannah; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, David Dearstyne; her daughter, Debi Dearstyne; her parents, Joseph and Josephine (Battaglia) LoPresti; her brothers, Carlo LoPresti, Phillip LoPresti, and Joseph LoPresti; and her sisters, Mary Pascarell and Josephine Wilson.
Mamie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, loving heart, dedication to family, and lifelong service to others. Her warmth, strength, and compassion touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Calling hours are Friday, May 29, 2026 from 4-7 pm at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, May 30, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Church, 17 South Park St., Cambridge with Rev. Joseph Tuan Pham officiating.
Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Cambridge.
