Louise B. (Bradley) Cox

Cambridge - Louise B. Cox passed away peacefully at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness on November 15, 2023.  Lisa, as she was known to those who knew her, was born on January 1, 1943, in South Amboy, NJ the daughter of the late Phillip H. and Dorothy L. (Weber) Bradley. 

Lisa graduated from Rosemary Hall, Wallingford, CT, she then attended Bennett College, Millbrook, NY, where she studied design.  After graduation she continued her studies at Parsons School of Design, New York City, NY.

It was at this time that she married and moved to Old Chatham, NY.  During her years there, she was an active member of the Old Chatham Hunt Club, becoming a whipper-in, she also founded and organized the Old Chatham Horse Trials. She became the District Commissioner (DC) of the Old Chatham Pony Club and later a member of the United States Pony Club Board of Governors. All while running Antinore Farm, which maintained a barn full of ponies and horses as well as the OCHC kennels. The farm bred and raised many horses and became a hub of pony club activity as Lisa spent hours giving lessons to everyone. Many of her students went on to solid equestrian accomplishments, including breed grand championships and even the winner of the Challenge of the Breeds (Mancunian Dauphin). She did all of this while continuing her own equestrian goals, studying, and riding with some of the best equestrians of the day, including Olympic riders and coaches, herself being longlisted for the Olympic eventing team.

She was a lifelong member of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and United States Dressage Federation (USDF), She held Dressage “R” and Eventing “r” judges’ cards until her retirement in 2020. Lisa was a talented and dedicated judge. She had a keen eye for spotting great riders and superior horses, as well as a desire to guide those working hard to improve in all aspects of their equestrian endeavors from stable management to riding skills. Her judging career spanned the better part of 50 years, a remarkable accomplishment.

Lisa is survived by her daughter, Ellenor W. Cox, son-in-law, James N. Joyce and grandson, Colin T. Joyce, of Cambridge, NY. She is also Survived by her sister, Anne B. Mulville of Phoenix, AZ, nephew, Clayton Mulville, his wife, Jackie and children, Garrett and Rielley all of Phoenix, AZ.  She was predeceased by her brother, Francis Weber Bradley; brother-in-law, John D. Mulville; nephews, Matthew W. Mulville and Phillip H. Mulville.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Mansion at South Union for their dedication to her over the past few years, the Doctors and Nurses at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for their commitment to her physical and emotional well being during her final days and the members of the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad for providing countless rides to Albany Medical Center and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
