Kevin Wayne Hunt

Cambridge, NY – Kevin Wayne Hunt, 61, of Cambridge, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with lung cancer.

Kevin was born in Cambridge on March 16th, 1960, the son of the late Eugene & Margaret Harwood Hunt.

Kevin leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Darlene Gates Hunt of Cambridge; his daughter, Nicole (Gary) Young of Cambridge; two sons, David Robie of Pownal, VT and Tyrell Hunt of Davenport, NY; his four brothers, Keith Hunt and Scott Hunt, both of Bennington, VT, Doug (Mary) Hunt of Pownal, Shannon (Robbin) Hunt of Cambridge, a sister, Penny Bursey of Cambridge; grandson, Treven Robie of Cambridge, a granddaughter, Alexus Robie of North Adams, MA, and also 3 grandchildren of Davenport, NY; aunt and uncle, Carol & Stan Hunt of Buskirk, a nephew that was like a son, Shane Phillips; a special friend, a “brother from another mother” Raymond Telford of Cambridge, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his special canine companion, Bella.

 In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two children, Kevin Hunt, Jr., Nikki Hunt, and his brother, Eugene R. Hunt, Jr.

Kevin received his education in Bennington, VT, as well as in Cambridge. He worked for Bennington Iron Works, Trojan Steel. After retirement, Kevin pursued carpentry on his own. His special interests included tag sales, camping, fishing, U-Haul auctions, while his main interest was spending time with his grandson, Treven, watching NASCAR and Indy races and also the yearly Fourth of July family gatherings in Crown Point, NY. His special caregivers were his wife Darlene and his daughter Nicole. Kevin will be laid to rest alongside his two children, and family at Island Hill Cemetery in Buskirk, NY.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the service at Island Hill Cemetery in Buskirk on Saturday, June 26th, 2021 at 2 pm. There will be a family gathering after at his home at 2177 State Route 22 in Cambridge in which all are welcome and encouraged to bring a dish to share. Please come and share memories in honor of Kevin.  Any donations can be made to his wife to help with medical expenses and would be appreciated.
