John Peter Rogers

Cambridge - John Peter Rogers, 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. John was the youngest child of Joseph and Anna (Mills) Rogers. Born in Cambridge, he was raised on the family farm in Center Cambridge and ran the farm after his father’s passing. John attended the one room schoolhouse in Center Cambridge, later attended Cambridge Central where he was a member of the first graduating class from the “big” school. After working on the farm, John went to work with his brother Martin as well working as a local handyman. Eventually he became a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years upon retirement. In his retirement, he maintained the family farm until his health declined, enjoyed watching sports, and “cruising the countryside” with his sidekick Floyd.

John was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Cambridge and a member of the Parish Council. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus holding various positions including Grand Knight.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen; daughter, Suzanne and her husband Mike Hayes; sons, Joseph and Edward; sister, Agnes and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Antonio, Raymond, Frank, Martin; sister, Stella; son, Phillip Michael.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Church, 17 South Park St., Cambridge with Rev. Peter Tkocz officiating.
