John L. LaFountain

Bennington, VT – John L. LaFountain, 79, of Bennington, VT, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at the Center for Living & Rehabilitation in Bennington.

John was born May 10, 1945 in Bennington the son of the late John and Marjorie (Bacon) LaFountain. 

John worked for the William Morse Contracting and also at Burgess Brothers Construction and then he was a truck driver traveling throughout the United States for many years until he retired.

John liked to watch car races and also go kart races.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a faithful member of the Bible Baptist Church in Bennington.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his loving wife, Josephine Capen LaFountain; a daughter, Maryann Sinteff; his siblings, Jeannette Rousseau, Dorothy Kelly, Judy Briggs, Joanne LaFountain and David LaFountain.

John is survived by his children, John (Robin) LaFountain of North Bennington, Chad LaFountain of White Creek and Nathan LaFountain of North Bennington; his siblings, Paul (Sue) LaFountain of Bennington, Jean LaFountain of Bennington, Marie West of North Bennington, Shirley Boisvert of Cambridge, Rosemary Lillie of Shaftsbury.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be from 10 – 11 am Monday, June 10, 2024 at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge.  A service will be at 11 am following the calling hour with Pastor Michael Twardy officiating.  Interment will follow at the Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland, VT.

A reception will be at the Bennington Rural Firehouse, 63 Gore Rd., Bennington, VT following the services.
