John Joseph Allen

Hebron, NY – John Allen, 94, of Hebron, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at his residence at Slate Valley Center in Granville, NY. Born March 28, 1927 in Hebron, he was the son of the late Fred and Viola (Chew) Allen.

John was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in the Philippines. He had a farm in West Hebron and later worked for the Hebron Highway Department in West Hebron. John enjoyed construction and was involved in many building projects, which he helped build the Calvary Baptist Church in Granville where he worshipped.

John was predeceased by his dear wife, Isabelle Campbell Allen; three children, David, Naomi, and Joy; sons-in-law, Thomas Neeley & Karl White; siblings, Fred Allen, Jr., Rita Jenkins, Lorraine Buckley, Florence Carney and Patricia Eilert.

John is survived by his nine children and spouses; Loreen Ranney and her husband Dan of North Granville, Lenora Allen of North Granville, Lorelie Phillips and her husband David of Colonie, Rachel Neeley of South Carolina, Lorita Pool and her husband Mark of South Carolina, Joel Allen and his wife Sue of Salem, Mary Anderson and her husband Ralph of Glens Falls, Phillip Allen of Salem and John Allen and his wife Rebecca of Granville. He is also survived by two brothers and their spouses, Richard Allen and his wife Linda of Greenwich and Robert Allen and his wife Linda of Troy; 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 5-7 PM at McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem. The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 13 Sheehan Road, Granville (Rt 40 and 22) on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 10 AM.  Interment with military honors will be at East Hebron Cemetery, Chamberlin Mills Rd., Salem. 

Per CDC and NYS guidelines, masks are required if you are not completely vaccinated.
