Jean E. (Baird) Pitts

       Salem, NY -  With deep sorrow the Pitts family announces the peaceful passing of Jean E. Pitts on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

She was a much-loved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Born at Mary McClellan Hospital on June 2, 1940.

Jean was predeceased by her parents Robert and Dorris (Hanks) Baird and her sister Nancy Durham, brothers Tony and Robert Kevin Baird.

Jean is survived by her children Seth Pitts (Diana) of Bloomfield CT, Carol Saunders of Woodsboro, Texas, Paige Hernandez of Rutledge, Georgia. A brother Paul Baird (Jan) of Warrensburg, New York.

Jean cherished and was proud of her six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and twelve step- great grandchildren

Jean attended Salem Central School and graduated from Mary McClellan Hospital School of Nursing in 1972. She had a forty-year career in nursing, retiring from Eden Park Nursing Home after thirty years of service.

Jean enjoyed working in her yard in Hartford, New York and spending time taking rides in the countryside with her beloved companion Rascal.

Jean’s family would like to thank the many caregivers at Essex Center for Nursing in Elizabethtown, New York in her final days.

As per Jeans request, there will be no services.
