Janet Moses Obituary

“You can take the girl out of the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the girl.”

Eagle Bridge, NY – Janet M. Moses, 92, of Eagle Bridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 30, 2025.

Janet is now reunited with her beloved husband, Roy, joined together in Eternal Life.

A lifelong resident of Eagle Bridge, Janet lived a life defined by love, resilience, and unwavering dedication. She was born to the late George and Flora (Campbell) Eddy and grew up on a dairy farm—proudly calling herself a "tomboy." On December 18, 1955, she married the love of her life, Roy Moses, also a dairy farmer. Together they built a life grounded in hard work and shared passions.

Janet had a deep love for gardening, cooking, and preserving the harvest through freezing and canning. She and Roy also shared a talent for bowling, with many trophies to show. Known for her thriftiness, she was never one to waste—often washing and reusing plastic wrap and tinfoil.

Her adventurous and spirited nature was evident throughout her life. She could often be found riding her Honda 125 motorcycle—known by her CB radio handle “Evel Kamama”—or riding her horse Blazer, taking a spin on her balloon-tired bicycle, or playing piano and guitar. Some of her favorite tunes included “Pistol Packin’ Mama” and “You Are My Sunshine.”

Janet enjoyed clog dancing with the Hill Country Cloggers and sang with several local choral groups, including the Eagle Bridge United Methodist Church Choir, where she was a member.  She also played shortstop for the Eagle Bridge women’s softball team.

Janet attended Hoosick Falls Central School and, in her early years, worked at The Undergarment in Hoosick Falls. Over the years, she worked at many local businesses, including the Moses Vegetable Stand & Dunham’s Cider Mill in Eagle Bridge, A&M Printers in Cambridge, and the cafeteria at Cambridge Central School.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Roy Moses; her father-in-law, Lloyd Moses; mother-in-law, Alice Moses—who fondly referred to Janet as "the daughter she never had"; her brother-in-law Harold Moses; and her siblings Walton Eddy, Raymond Eddy, Earnest Eddy, Harvey Eddy, Doris Sprague, Lois Brown, and Marjorie Sweet.

Janet is survived by her children: Laurie Moses, Leonard Moses (Diane), and Valerie Courville; her granddaughters: Jessica Moses, Rebecca Lvov (Dan), Carli Courville, and Rylie Courville; step-grandchildren: Lauren Perry (Mike) and Aron Courville (Beth); and great-step-grandchildren: Ethan Perry, Lilianna Perry, and Norah Courville.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who loved and cared for Janet. Your kindness, friendship, and support meant the world to her—and to us.
