James Vise Obituary

Salem, NY - James S. Vise, 74, of Salem, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025, at his residence.

Born on January 22, 1951, in Queens, New York, James was the son of the late Marion and Claire (Stevens) Vise. He graduated from Lindenhurst High School in Lindenhurst, NY. Following his education, James proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam era, serving aboard the USS Blue Ridge.

James dedicated more than 40 years to his career as an auto body technician. Known for his skill, work ethic, and attention to detail, he retired from Adirondack Auto Body in Ballston Spa, NY. His work reflected the pride he took in providing for his family and doing a job well.

Outside of his profession, James enjoyed a life shaped by the outdoors and simple pleasures. He loved deer hunting, spending time outside, and hosting barbecues with family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, and took pride in his gun collection. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. In 2007, James moved to Salem from Patchogue, NY, where he made his home and continued to enjoy a quieter life surrounded by family.

James was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Jeb J. Vise (Shannon) of Lindenhurst, NY, Jesse S. Vise (Amanda) of Granville, NY, and Jamie T. Vise (Ricky Stanley) of Hudson Falls, NY. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Noah Vise, Mackenzie Vise, and Riley Vise.

He is also survived by his siblings, Jean Igoe (John) of Kingwood, TX, Joseph Vise (Robert Chiesa) of Lutz, FL, Jerry Vise (Andre) of Gray Court, SC, and Jeffrey Vise of Long Beach, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember him.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Julia Hagemeyer and John Vise.
