Land O’ Lakes, FL-James H. Bailey, 74, of Land O’ Lakes, FL, passed away on June 29, 2022. He was born Nov. 6, 1947 in Geneva NY.
Jim grew up North Syracuse, NY and graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1965. As a Boy Scout he achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He earned a BS degree in Microbiology from the SUNY College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry and went on to do graduate work at the University at Albany.
For many years Jim served in the US Army and the Army Reserves as a medical specialist and intelligence specialist, retiring as a Master Sargent. He later worked as a microbiologist at various Veterans Administration hospitals around the world. In semi-retirement he performed similar work at a private medical testing laboratory in Florida.
Jim was a lifelong stamp collector, an avid reader, and an active ocean and river cruiser, having taken two world cruises and several regional ones.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Dorothy Bailey (Silkworth), who lived in South Cambridge following their retirements. Jim is survived by four siblings: Suzanne Truax of Cicero, NY, Bruce Bailey (Monica McGuire) of Latham, NY, Barbara Bailey of Cicero, NY, and Steven Bailey (Josephine) of Amsterdam, NY. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Following a graveside service attended by family and friends, Jim was buried in Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, NY on July 21, 2022.
