Cambridge-H. LaVerne Davis, 91, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Albany Medical Center.
He was born in Bennington, VT on December 24, 1931 the son of the late Harry and Ruth (Robertson) Davis.
LaVerne graduated from Cambridge Central School and attended Hudson Valley Community College and Adirondack Community College taking night courses. He served in the U.S. Army for a short time being discharged due to a medical illness.
LaVerne was a Master Carpenter for many years and was also the first Postal Carrier with a walking route in Cambridge and he was also a rural mail carrier. He owned and operated Davis Coal and was a NYS Building Code Inspector for Cambridge and Easton for many years.
LaVerne was a Charter member of the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad and a former member of the Cambridge Vol. Fire Dept. He loved old cars, trucks and most importantly, the many dogs he and Sandra have owned over the years.
LaVerne is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Pine Davis.
Coffee and light refreshments will be available from 10:00 – 11:00 with a memorial service following at 11:00 on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad Education Center, 33 Gilbert Rd., Cambridge, NY.
