Cambridge, NY — After a series of health events, Gregory A. Carlton of Cambridge, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Greg was born in Cambridge on June 27, 1950, to Harold and Lillian (Wilson) Carlton. He was educated at Salem Washington Academy and served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972.
Greg spent most of his working years at NSK in Bennington, VT, and at Interface Solutions in Hoosick Falls, NY, where he retired in 2014.
Cutting and splitting wood, motoring around the farm property, and spending time at the pond were some of his favorite activities. At home, he enjoyed watching television with his cat, Rascal.
He cherished his friendship with Audie (Michele) Rivers. The duo met through work and, over the years, enjoyed miles of road trips filled with laughter, time spent at the pond, playing mechanic and carpenter on odd jobs, and simply being honest, genuine, and loyal friends. Audie continued to show that loyalty to Greg during his greatest time of need and provided him with a great sense of comfort.
Greg was predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Debi Carlton, Pam Carlton, and Donna Arendt.
He is survived by his siblings, Gary Carlton of Jackson and Penny Carlton of Maine; his nephew, Gary J. (Courtney) Carlton of Jackson; and his nieces, Tara (Ron) Lashway of Massachusetts, Trina (Dave) Carlton of Ballston Spa, and Heather Carlton of Putnam Station.
Services will be private.
