Hebron – Gilbert Harrison King, 93, passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side on Thursday, October 12th, 2023.
Gilbert is survived by his wife of 69 years Bernice Truehart King, his daughter Constance (Alan) Forand, grandson Jason (Crystal) Getty of Hebron, granddaughter Cheryl (Matthew) Porter of Fort Ann, along with seven great grandchildren – Jacob Harrison Getty and John Harrison Getty of Hebron, Paisley, Brinley, and Nolan Porter of Fort Ann, Wyatt and Easton Paul of Hebron, and special nephews LaVerne “Dude” Truehart, Fred Truehart and Terry Sutliff. He is predeceased by his parents Jesse and Della (Sherman) King, along with his siblings Pearl LaVictoire, Joan Merrill, Jesse, George, Chester, and Austin King.
Born November 4th 1929 in Sandgate, VT, Gilbert was baptized at the Church of Christ and attended school in Sandgate. Soon after, he joined the work force as a logger and a potato farmer at Royce Atwater Potato Farm in Salem. In 1951, Gilbert enlisted in the Army and served from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. His hobbies were well known to be hunting and fishing, as well being a member of the NRA.
The family would like to give a special thanks to High Peaks Hospice, especially to Rene, Casey, Maria, Alita, Joanna, Laura, and Maura for the wonderful care.
Services will be private, with interment at the Rupert Cemetery. Jacob Getty, John Getty, Terry Sutliff, Matthew Porter, Fred Truehart and LaVerne "Dude" Truehart will have the honor of carrying Gilbert to his final resting place.
