Salem – Gerald “Frog” Getty, 87, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, in the comfort of his home, with his family by his side. He is now reunited with his parents, brothers, son, and grandson.
Born on October 2, 1937, at home on Rexleigh Road in Salem, he was the son of the late Stanley and Cecelia (Boucher) Getty. Jerry spent most of his life in the Salem area. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany.
A logger by trade, Jerry was happiest when surrounded by the beauty of nature.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; several children, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be at 11 am Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Salem United Methodist Church, 29 West Broadway, Salem with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem.
