Rupert, VT - Emma May (Dunbar) Farrar, 97, a cherished resident of Rupert, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at The Pines at Glens Falls in Glens Falls, NY.
Born on March 13, 1927, in Rupert, Vermont, Emma May lived a life marked by love, hard work, and a deep commitment to her family and community. She spent many years contributing to local industries, retiring from Sheridan Catheter in Argyle, NY, where she worked in manufacturing. Prior to that, she was employed at J.K. Adams in Dorset, VT.
Emma May had a passion for life that was evident in her diverse interests. She enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, cooking and canning, crocheting, quilting, woodworking, and dancing. She and her husband, Roland Farrar, who predeceased her in 2017, were known for hosting memorable family reunions at their barn. Her community involvement extended to memberships in the Rebekah’s Club in West Pawlet, VT, and the Northeastern Music Association.
She leaves behind her children: Vivian (Robert) Bordeaux of Fort Edward, NY; Linda (Mark) Orleman of Corinth, NY; and Deborah (Charles) Brothers of Port St. Lucie, FL. Emma May was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great grandchildren as well as a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian Waite of Pawlet, VT, and sister-in-law, Carrie Dunbar of Corinth, NY.
Emma May was preceded in death by her parents, William and Carrie (Monroe) Dunbar; her husband, Roland Farrar; her siblings, Clarissa (Floyd) Linendoll, Priscilla Dunbar, Harris Dunbar, Herbert (Polly) Dunbar, and Cecil (Alice) Dunbar; as well as her brother-in-law(s) Floyd Linendoll, Robert Waite, and sister-in-law(s) Polly Dunbar and Alice Dunbar; and her son, Vernon Potter.
A calling hour will be Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 11am to 12pm at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem. A service will begin at 12pm at the funeral home with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. Interment will be at the Rupert Cemetery. A reception will be at the Salem Fire Dept. following the services and all are cordially invited.

Emma May Farrar’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.
