Saratoga Springs, NY & Sebastian, FL - Elsbeth “Becky” Mattison passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 21, 2026 at the age of 100. Born September 9, 1925, in Goppingen, Germany she was the daughter of Wilhelm and Katherine (Luther) Froschle. She met her future husband, Donald J. Mattison, during WWII while he was an enlisted soldier serving in the United States Army. They were married in 1954 and established their residence in Manchester, VT where they purchased and ran a guest home. She obtained her US citizenship in August 1959.
She and her husband moved to Cambridge, NY in 1962 and resided there for many years while raising their family. They owned and operated the Old Cambridge Fairgrounds and stables. Donald and Becky both worked at Mary McClellan Hospital for several years until they eventually developed and operated the mobile home sales and park, Scenic Mountain Estates. In 1981 they sold their business and established residency in Sebastian, Florida.
Becky enjoyed many activities during her retirement. The warm Florida weather was suitable for her swimming and golfing activities. She especially enjoyed travelling returning to her homeland in Germany every few years and going on Caribbean cruises. Her favorite summer activity was spending time at her Vermont family camp at Lake St. Catherine with family and friends. She was particularly fond of children and her face lit up whenever they entered the room.
Becky was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by her three sons; Gerald Mattison (Debra) of Saratoga Springs, Steven Mattison of Saratoga Springs and David Mattison (Merede) of Golden, CO; four grandchildren, Tristine Bong (Joel), Jonathan Mattison (Amanda), Daniel Mattison, and Emily Mattison; five great grandchildren, Matthew, McKenzie, and McKayleigh Bong, Hallie and Faith Mattison.
Becky had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Sebastian and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Saratoga Springs.
