Cambridge-Elizabeth “Betty” Anne Webster (Ornt), 77, of Cambridge, NY reunited with her loving husband Herbert in heaven on Sunday, May 30th, 2021. She spent her final days with family and passed with her sons David and John at her side.
She was born in Rochester, NY on June 1st, 1944. On February 10th, 1963 she married Herbert William Webster. As a family, they moved to Cambridge, NY in 1969.
Betty was a faithful servant of her Lord, Jesus Christ. She attended the Open Bible Baptist Church in Cambridge, NY. She was a former doll maker at R. John Right Dolls of Bennington, VT. She spent most days spending precious time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty loved talking with people whenever she would take walks around town or hang out at Stewart’s with the children. She also loved visiting family in Rochester, NY. Everyone that knew Betty knew her as Betty or Nanie, the kind and generous woman that cared for all. Betty loved lighthouses and her favorite movies were The Sound of Music and Dirty Dancing.
Betty is predeceased by her parents, George Ornt and Marie Lindsay-Ornt as well as her siblings; Barbara Enos (Ornt), Peggy McGlynn (Ornt), Marie Schermerhorn (Ornt), all of Rochester, NY.
She is survived by her siblings, Fred Ornt of Alton, NY; George Ornt of Rochester, NY; and Beverly Comstock. She is also survived by her children, William Mager (Debbie) of Rochester, NY; Grace Moyer (Dennis) of Granville, NY; Georgiana Davidsen (Chris) of Cambridge, NY; Christine Corley of Huntsville, AL; Elizabeth Sherman (David) of Clifton Park, NY; David Webster of Cambridge, NY; and John Waite (Jesstine) of Mechanicville, NY. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.
Betty will be missed by all. Anne Lamott once said, “Lighthouses don’t go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.” That was Betty; she was a light in the World that nothing could dim. She led us all with her wisdom and grace. She will be the light guiding us through the dark, watching over us with her husband.
Calling hours are Friday, June 4, 2021 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Open Bible Baptist Church, 5 West Main St., Cambridge. A service will begin at 1 pm following the calling hours. Interment will be at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge. Light refreshments will be at the church following the services.
