Cambridge, NY - David Newell Seufert, 93, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, January 2, 2026, at his residence.
Born on December 20, 1932, in Englewood, New Jersey, David was the son of the late Walter and Virginia (Chase) Seufert. He was raised in New Jersey and graduated from Teaneck High School in 1950. He went on to attend Trinity College, where he earned his degree in 1954.
David served in the US Army for 2 years at the end of the Korean Conflict. After this, he devoted much of his professional life to Equitable Life Insurance, where he worked for 30 years before retiring. He was known for his steady work ethic, thoughtful nature, and quiet dedication to his responsibilities.
Outside of his career, David found great satisfaction in the outdoors and in working with his hands. He enjoyed reading and took particular pleasure in building kites and kayaks. An avid hiker and canoeist, he spent time exploring the Adirondacks and canoeing in Quetico Provincial Park. At home, he enjoyed gardening and tending sheep, pursuits that reflected his appreciation for nature and a life well lived at a thoughtful pace.
On February 22, 1963, David married Catherine Kozma Seufert, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.
In addition to his wife Catherine, David is survived by his sons, Daniel Seufert and his wife Laurie of Delaware, Ohio, and Marshal Seufert and his wife Lis of Boulder, Colorado. He was a proud grandfather to Evan, Xia, Yene, Sunatai, and Lorelei.
