Cambridge - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of David S. Percey, 61, of Cambridge, New York, who left us far too soon on May 23, 2025, following a motorcycle accident.
Dave was born in 1963 in Bennington, Vermont, to Mary (LaFlamme) Gratz and John Percey. Though he never had the chance to know his biological father, who passed away before his birth, he was lovingly raised by his mother and stepfather, Robert Gratz. After graduating from high school, Dave pursued his passion for technology by studying Computer Science at the University of Vermont, where he laid the foundation for a fulfilling career in programming.
In 1986, fate brought Dave together with his late wife, Sally Bauer-Percey, at work. Their connection blossomed into a beautiful partnership, and Dave quickly embraced the joys of family life, becoming a devoted stepfather to William H. Link III and Michele C. Trichos in 1994. In 1996, their family grew even more when they adopted their beloved daughter, Dara-Lynne Thompson (Percey).
After Sally's passing in 2010, Dave found solace in the great outdoors, cherishing every moment spent with family and friends. He had a particular passion for motorcycle riding, which became one of his greatest joys. Whether cruising down scenic roads or officiating cycle races, Dave's adventurous spirit shone brightly.
Dave is predeceased by his beloved wife, Sally, his father John S. Percey, stepfather Robert Gratz, brother LeRoy Gratz, and sister Dawn Rieben. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Mary Gratz, brothers Rob and Joe Gratz, and his cherished children: William H. Link III and his family, Michele Trichos and her family, and Dara-Lynne Thompson and her family. He is also survived by numerous other beloved family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Dave's warmth, kindness, and zest for life touched everyone he met. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the love he shared and the adventures he embraced.
The family will have a private interment service at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.
