Bethesda, MD-Carl F. Seils, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening November 23, 2022 surrounded by family. A longtime resident of Bethesda MD, Carl was born and raised in Massachusetts. He graduated from the Boston Latin School in 1951 and was recently inducted to their Athletic Hall of Fame for his Track and Field accomplishments. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1955 and was then commissioned in the U.S. Navy from 1955 through 1961. Much of his Naval service was spent at Camp David protecting the Commander in Chief. In 1957, he married his beloved wife, Virginia Cadoret, who preceded him in death in August 1992. After a long career as a Civil Engineer with the NIH in Bethesda, he retired in 1992.
Carl/Dad/PopPop was a wonderful God loving man who enjoyed social events, church gatherings, boating on Lake St. Catherine, Vermont, and spending precious time with his family. He was a consistent, devoted and ever-present fan for all his grandchildren’s athletic teams. In 1993 he began seeing his lovely fiancé, Elaine Buschor, and they spent the next 30 years on-the-go to societal events and to places around the globe.
Carl is survived by his sons, Carl (Deborah), Jon (Jeanne), Phil (Julie); his grandchildren, Jacob (Debra), Emily, Virginia, Anna (Taylor), Carl (Robyn), Joseph, Joshua, Brett, Tyler and Jason, and great grandchildren, Charlie, Marie, Jonathan, Drew and Cole. He is furthered survived by his fiancé, Elaine Buschor and family, Shondra (Greg) and Sharina (Jeff) and children, Madison, Natalie, Allyssa and Tyler.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. James Episcopal Church, 11815 Seven Locks Road, Potomac, MD.
Interment with military honors will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Rupert Cemetery in Rupert, VT.
Donations in his honor are being accepted by United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg, PA.
