Cambridge - Barbara J. Rowland, 75, of Cambridge, NY, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Barbara was born on February 8, 1950, in Cambridge, NY, to the late Walter and Mabel (Skidmore) Rowland. A proud graduate of Salem Washington Academy, Barbara went on to work at Asgrow Seed Company in Cambridge. In 1973, she began a long and dedicated career at Mary McClellan Hospital, where she worked until 2001. She then continued her work at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT, until her retirement in 2013.
Barbara was a woman of many passions. She was an active member of Shushan Methodist Church, where she found joy in singing with the choir. Her commitment to community extended beyond her faith, as she was a member of the Cambridge Valley Order of the Eastern Star #570, the American Medical Records Association, and the Adirondack Medical Records Association.
Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara’s love for the outdoors was evident in her gardening and the many family gatherings she enjoyed attending. She cherished time spent with loved ones and will be remembered for her warm and caring nature.
Barbara is survived by her step-brothers, Medrick Christman of Eagle Bridge, NY, and Roy Christman of Sunderland, VT; her sisters-in-law, Anita Rowland of Jackson, NY, and Ethel Rowland of Cambridge, NY; her niece, Sherry (Mark) McKinley of Greenwich, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Clifford Rowland, Raymond Rowland, and Lawrence Rowland; her step-brother, Arthur Williams; her sisters, Anna Rowland and Shirley Woodcock; and several nieces and nephews, including Tina Rowland, Jennifer Rowland, Rachel Hess, Glen Rowland, Dorothy Waite, Alicia DeMarco Williams, Wesley Wills, and Jesse Saunders.
