Anthony Vellucci Obituary

Buskirk-Anthony R. Vellucci, 99, of Buskirk, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT.

Born January 23, 1921 in New York City, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Angela (Dirago) Vellucci. 

Anthony worked for Bird’s Eye in New York City and then enlisted in the U.S. Amy Air Corps in 1942 serving during World War II where he was an Airplane Maintenance Technician.  He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Upon returning from serving his country, he and his brother-in-law owned and operated National Fiberglass Co. in Yonkers, manufacturer of fishing rods.  He operated the business for 30 years until he retired.

He and his wife Mary Ann moved to Buskirk to be closer to their family and were members of St. Patrick’s Church in Cambridge.

In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Mary Ann Catania Vellucci who passed away October 11, 2017; his siblings, Gennaro, Clementine, Margaret, Anna, Domenica, Josephine, Yolanda and Joseph.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence & Carol Vellucci of Buskirk; grandchildren, Anthony (Kimberly) Vellucci, Lawrence (Janine) Vellucci, Jr. & David (Stephanie) Vellucci; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Alyssa, Laura, Victoria, Nicholas, Abigail, Emily and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 4-6 pm at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Church, 17 South Park St., Cambridge with Rev. Thomas Zelker officiating.

Interment with military honors will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
