Salem-William T. "Bill" Beaty, 74, of Salem passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Bill was born on January 31, 1942 in Cambridge, NY to William and Caroline McKeighan Beaty. He graduated from Salem Washington Academy and attended Hudson Valley Community College. Bill worked at the Norton – Saint-Gobain, Inc. in Watervliet as an accomplished Product Engineer for over 30 years. Bills greatest passion in life was breeding and showing Morgan horses, which culminated in him establishing the Norbiline Morgan Horse Farm. Additionally, he was a family man, classic car enthusiast, and avid golfer. He was a kind, generous, and witty individual who loved the Town of Salem and it residents, of which he was a life long resident. Bill is survived by his former wife Marilyn Beaty; step-daughter, Jill and son-in-law Dave Braymer; grandsons, Dave, Ross and Trevor Braymer, all of Greenwich, NY.
Bill is preceded in death by his father William Beaty, mother Caroline McKeighan Christensen and step-father, Norman Christensen. His family will remember him as a warm and loving individual with a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Calling hours are Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem, NY.
