Greenwich, NY – Wayne Thomas Clifton, 72, of Greenwich, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital.
Born November 26, 1953 on Long Island, he was the son of the late Gerald and June (Mack) Clifton. Wayne spent his early years on Long Island before moving upstate with his family at the age of 16. Following his graduation from high school, he traveled to the West Coast, where he worked for Greenpeace and briefly attended college in Oregon.
Upon returning to Greenwich, Wayne built a career as a welder. He was also deeply devoted to helping others, especially children with special needs, and made a lasting impact on many lives. He volunteered his time delivering groceries to senior citizens and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Wayne enjoyed sharing his love of TCM (Turner Classic Movies), old movies, and thoughtful discussions of current events with his friends in a local roundtable group. His laughter and companionship while shopping, playing bocce, and watching football will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Wayne was loved and cherished by many friends in the Greenwich community.
He is survived by his six sisters and brother, Cheryl Clifton, Doreen Clifton-Barr, Lorie Clifton, Robyn Adler, Stacey Seaman, Dawn Underwood, and Christopher Seaman. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
His family will have a service at a later date.
