Salem-Walter Alton Harwood, Sr., 81, of Salem, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born October 13, 1934 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Oliff & Ida (Webber) Harwood.  Walter worked for the Town of Jackson Highway Department for 30 years retiring in 2000.

He and his family enjoyed camping in Crown Point and he also loved to fish and hunt.

Walter was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine Hunt Harwood who passed away February 12, 2010.

He is survived by his children, Adonica J. Harwood of Argyle, Walter A. Harwood, Jr., of Salem, Bonnie Barbarito of Kent, NY, Lucinda Harwood of Hebron, Darryl Harwood of Hebron, Eric J. Harwood of Granville and Sondra K. Baker of Pawlet, VT.  Walter is also survived by 2 sisters, Margaret Hunt of Cambridge and Carol Hunt of Buskirk and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Island Hill Cemetery, Route 67 in Buskirk.
