Salem-Sylvia M. Chambers, 93, of Salem, passed away Wednesday evening, April 13, 2016 at the Washington Center in Argyle.

Sylvia was born July 25, 1922 in Camden Valley, Town of Salem and was the daughter of Konrad and Mary (Backman) Maki.

Sylvia was educated in Cambridge and had worked at Mack Molding in Arlington and then worked for the C.A. Baltz Company in Salem until she married John A. Chambers, Jr. March 6, 1956.  He passed away October 9, 2014.

Sylvia loved to work around her home especially working in her vegetable gardens and mowing the lawn.  Many years ago, she was the caretaker of the one room school in Camden Valley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by two brothers, Vaino Maki and Walter Maki.

Sylvia is survived by her two sons, James W. (Sheryl) Chambers and Robert F. (Kathy) Chambers, both of Salem.  She is also survived by two grandchildren, David Chambers of Jackson and Lissa Chambers of Salem and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating.
