Cambridge-Shirley May Mathers, 84, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls.

Born July 15, 1933 in White Creek, she was the daughter of the late Edward & Alice (Eddy) Peters.  Shirley graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and worked at H.P. Hood in Eagle Bridge as a Lab Technician retiring after 19 years of service.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Buskirk and enjoyed all kinds of animals.  She and her husband Robert enjoyed going to the races at Lebanon Valley Speedway.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert C. Mathers whom she married July 6, 1958; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger K. and Danielle Mathers of Cambridge; 2 grandchildren, Madeline & Jack Mathers; a sister, Elaine Peters of Eagle Bridge.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating.

Interment will be at the Center White Creek Cemetery.
