Hoosick Falls- Sharon Lee Church, 69, of Hoosick Falls passed away Friday, April 7 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Granville, NY on July 21, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Wideawake and the late Daisy (Skidmore) Woodard.
Sharon attended schools in West Rupert and Salem prior to moving to Bennington. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church and the Captain Maxson Post 634 American Legion Auxiliary in Cambridge.
Sharon was married to Steve for 23 years when he passed away on June 9, 2022. Although she had lost her best friend and helpmate, Sharon continued on, maintaining their apartment and visiting with the friends they had made over the years.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her siblings Joyce Church and Ralph Wideawake. She is survived by her three children: Harry (Cassandra) Porter of Bennington, Louise (Kenny) Perry and Thomas Porter of Pownal; brothers Donny Wideawake of Granville and Jerry Wideawake of Whitehall and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. in Schuylerville at 11 am on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 with Pastor Debbie Earthrowl officiating.
Those who wish to remember Sharon may make a donation to either the Salem United Methodist Church, Salem, NY 12865 or The Pinkie Fund, Salem, NY 12865. (The fund will help pet owners receive veterinary care for their beloved pets who would otherwise not be able to). Either donation may be sent in care of McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, P.O.
