Obituary

Cambridge-Robert Edward "Ed" Skellie, 82, of Cambridge, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Benington.

Born January 26, 1934 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late James and Arda McNeil Skellie.

Ed attended Stillwater High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was a Paratrooper.

Ed was a dairy farmer for many years in Stillwater and then worked for Hoosic Valley Farmers in Schaghticoke and also the Wilber Farm in Greenwich.

Ed was a member and Past Master of the Saratoga Grange #1209 in Quaker Springs; a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution; a member of the Ashler Lodge #584 F&AM and the Quaker Springs Fire Dept.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Karen Chilek Skellie who passed away March 23, 2014 and also his brothers and sisters.

Ed is survived by his son, Matthew K. Skellie of Little Falls, NY; 2 step-sons, Matt Hidek of Syracuse and Seth Hidek of Manhattan; 2 step-granddaughters, Rachael & Rebecca Hidek; 2 sisters, Margie Lawson of Seward, NY and Emily Baird of Colby, KS.

A funeral service will be at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016 New Skete Monastery, 250 New Skete Lane, Cambridge with interment to follow in the New Skete Cemetery.
