Salem-Rhoda R. (Morey) Granger, 86, of Salem, passed away Monday night, December 11, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital. She was born January 21, 1931 in Sandgate, Vermont the daughter of the late James and Olive (Bentley) Morey. She attended schools in Sandgate, Arlington, North Bennington, and Bennington, graduating from Benn High in 1949. Rhoda married Carl Granger on November 9, 1951. Together they raised six children before he passed away in 1972. She worked at Polygraphic Company in North Bennington, Vermont, and was employed at the former Mary McClellan Hospital for many years, retiring in 1999.
She enjoyed her family, reading, knitting, cross stitching, cryptoquotes, crossword puzzles, watching television, and listening to country music.
Predeceasing her other than her parents and husband was her daughter, Carlene A. Granger; a granddaughter; Kellie Thompson-Brown; her stepfather, Herbert Macauley; four sisters, Ardis Morey, Lillian Chatterton, Gloria Harrington and Marcia Forman; a stepsister, Iva Macauley and three stepbrothers, Alvon, Herbert and Albert Macauley.
Rhoda is survived by her children, a son Carl (Dawn) Granger of Jefferson, Georgia (formerly of Bennington, Vermont), daughters, Regina (Joseph) Gorman of White Creek, New York and, April Cameron of Salem,, sons, Timothy Granger of Salem and Michael (Wendy) Granger of Petersburgh, NY. A former son-in-law, Scott Cameron of Hebron, also survives. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Carl (Bonnie), Robert (Cathy), Janine (Larry), Donald (Bobbi),Tasha (Shawn), Heather (Justin), Amy (Travis), Lauren (Dylan), Anea, Toran and Katlyn (Cole), 16 great grandchildren, a great great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge, NY with Rev Debbie Earthrowl officiating. A calling hour will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.
