Obituary

Greenwich - Peggy J. White, 82, a longtime resident of Greenwich and more recently a resident of Queensbury, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on September 23, 1942, in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of Maria and Herbert White and one of seven children in her family. Peggy was a graduate of Sachem High School in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY, and went on to pursue a nursing degree at SUNY Stony Brook. Over the course of 30 years, she dedicated her career to caring for others, working in nursing homes and hospitals on Long Island. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her work, as she also spent time as a clock assembler in the Long Island area. An avid lover of life's simple pleasures, Peggy enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and reading. She had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly dogs and cats, and was always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Whether tending to her garden or offering comfort to a furry friend, Peggy's kindness and generosity were evident in everything she did. She is survived by her beloved brother & sister-in-law, John & Martha White of Syracuse, NY, who will cherish her memory.  A special appreciation is extended to Brenda Stevens, Peggy's palliative nurse.  She is also survived by nieces & nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, as well as five siblings: Felicia Giordano, Lorraine Hammond, Josephine Restaino, Herbert White, and Beverly Greene. She was also predeceased by her special companion, Raymond Brink. A private graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Salem. In keeping with Peggy's wishes, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or online at www.donate.cancer.org.
