Mechanicville-Patricia K. Mead, 70, of Mechanicville, formerly of Johnsonville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Pat was born November 25, 1947 in Englewood, NJ, the daughter of the late Trygve "Bill" and Helen (Hastings) Olsen.
She graduated from Greenwich Central School. She received her LPN certification from the Mary McClellan School of Nursing in Cambridge, NY.
Pat worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for area healthcare facilities such as Mary McClellan Hospital, the Albany Veteran's Hospital, and Highgate Manor Head Trauma Unit. She was also a private duty nurse, owning her own business with her sister, Kathy, called Family Care Nursing Services. She worked for Seton Health in Troy until she retired. She loved what she did, caring for her patients.
Pat enjoyed crocheting, making Christmas stockings, jig saw puzzles, German Shepherds (of which she had many), and watching old movies. At one time she was the leader of the La Leche League. She was also an active member of the Rensselaer Dairy Princess Committee for many years, as well as a Grange member.
In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Ronald E. Mead,and a sister, Kathy E. Huebner.
Pat is survived by her children, Kimberly (Michael Barry) Degener of Schenectady and Sandra (Gary) Degener of Mechanicville. She also leaves behind a sister, Deborah Olsen of Johnsonville and her cherished grandchildren, Christian, Cameron, Abigail and Ian; a niece, Holly (Brandon) Beltran and great nieces, Andromache & Aurora.
Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Hoosic Valley Community Church, 2024 State Route 40, Schaghticoke. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm following the calling hours with Pastor Clyde McCaskill officiating.
Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke, followed by a brief reception back at Hoosic Valley Community Church.
