North Hoosick-Marcia Meerwarth, 79, of North Hoosick, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, March 9, 2017 in the comfort of her home.
Born March 7, 1938 in Rutland, VT, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Madeline (Wood) Walker.
Marcia graduated from Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls and continued her education at St. Joseph's College in Bennington earning a Bachelor's Degree in accounting.
Marcia assisted in the operation of the family dairy farm in Eagle Bridge. Her faith gave her purpose and comfort. She was a volunteer at the Coila Church and also at WNGN Radio Station in Buskirk. Marcia was a member of the Green Mountain Christian Center in Bennington where she also volunteered her time.
Marcia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; she wrote many poems and they were known as Grandma Meerwarth's Poetry.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was predeceased by a son, Fremont "Mike" Meerwarth, III; two sisters, Carol Brown & Marilyn Demers.
Marcia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Fremont H. Meerwarth, Jr.; her children, Marcy Stearns of Eagle Bridge, Peter (Jan) Meerwarth of Allentown, NJ and Paul (Kathleen) Meerwarth of Niskayuna, NY; her grandchildren, Christopher Meerwarth, Andrew Meerwarth, Nicole Meerwarth, Ryan (Becca) Meerwarth, Ashley Meerwarth, Isaac Meerwarth, Sam Meerwarth, Michael (Kate) Stearns, Dan (Sarah) Stearns, Heather Stearns and Cindy Stearns; a great grandson, Randy O'Brien. She is also survived by a sister, Joan Marion of Williamstown, MA; a brother, Roland Walker of Eagle Bridge and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Green Mountain Christian Center, 440 Main St., Bennington, VT.
Interment was held privately at the Center White Creek Cemetery in White Creek.
