Salem-Loretta M. Coon, 96, of Salem, passed away Friday morning, October 26, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born July 29, 1922 in Glenville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Daisy (Bushee) Coats.

Loretta was a 1942 graduate of Salem Washington Academy and a longtime member of the West Hebron United Methodist Church where she was involved in many activities over the years.  She was a member of the former Grange in West Hebron and Loretta loved her cats.

Loretta worked as a finishing operator at Sherwood Medical in Argyle retiring after 35 years of service at the age of 80.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur K. Coon who passed away in 1978; a sister, Frances Monty; a brother, Richard "Red" Coats.

Loretta is survived by a son, James A. (Mary) Coon of Salem; a brother, Kenneth Coats of Granville; 2 grandsons, Thomas Coon of Clifton Park and Craig Coon of Ballston Spa; great grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Melissa, Kyle, Logan, Garrett and Owen.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem with Rev. Debra Peacock officiating.

There are no calling hours.

Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem.
